QUATECH EXPANDS DEVICE NETWORKING PRODUCT LINE TO INCLUDE USB DEVICE SERVERS
Quatech’s Wired and Wireless 802.11b/g USB Device Servers are now available

HUDSON, OHIO – August 12, 2008 –  Quatech, Inc., a leader in wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) networking and device connectivity solutions, has expanded it’s product line to include USB Device Servers.

Quatech’s USB Device Servers are the latest addition to Quatech’s broad range of Device Networking products and an excellent, cost efficient way to connect a wide range of USB peripherals to members on a network. The innovative technology allows individuals to connect to and share single-user USB devices with co-workers, students and family members through an 802.11b/g wireless network or a wired Local Area Network (LAN).

"The new USB Device Server product family expands Quatech's field proven capability to network enable legacy USB and serial devices into new applications or enable those already deployed at customer sites." said Steve Runkel, CEO of Quatech. "With the addition of USB Device Servers to our existing line of Serial Device Servers, Quatech can now seamlessly integrate a wide range of devices and peripherals into network infrastructures improving work efficiency, data flow and sharing around the office or plant."

Quatech’s USB Wireless 802.11b/g Device Server is one of the first of its kind to come equipped with isochronous data transfer support.  USB devices that stream audio and video can be shared among multiple Windows and MAC users over an 802.11b/g wireless network or an Ethernet wired network.  With robust support compatibility and 15 USB ports (including additional hub), the USBN-500W supports virtually all types of USB devices, making it an ideal solution for any business, industrial plant, school or home with multiple USB devices.

Equipped with smart technology, the USB Wireless 802.11b/g Device Server comes with a Virtual Link utility, which allows individuals to manage all of their networked USB devices in one window on a real time basis. The individual USB device application software can be set to be launched automatically when the device is connected to a PC using the Virtual Link utility.

To simplify the initial network configuration, the USBN-500W supports Microsoft Windows “Connect Now”.  The process is as easy as saving the results of the Connect Now wizard on a USB storage devices and inserting the storage device into the USB Wireless 802.11b/g Device Server. The server creates the wireless configuration automatically in minutes.

The USB Wired Device Server allows individuals to instantly access and share a wide variety of USB devices through LAN access for the workplace or home.  The USBN-500 application enables the virtualization of any USB devices over LAN as if they are connected local to a PC.  By this implementation, USB devices connected to the USB server can be accessed and shared by remote clients over LAN.  Although the network is wired, the USB Wired Device Server comes equipped with features that are not offered by the wireless device server.

The USB Wired Device Server comes with Network Attached Storage (NAS) option, which supplies file based storage to the USB Device Server. With the NAS option, the USB Device Server allows USB devices to be used and share over LAN and Wide Area Network (WAN).

The USB Device Server’s Virtual USB-IP Software contains a Virtual Bus Enumerator driver and Virtual Bus driver. These drivers will help in virtualizing the USB devices attached on the USB Sever.  The Virtual Bus driver takes the USB traffic from the USB Client drivers on Windows Host and assesses it to the USB-Server, which sits remotely on the network.

The USB Wired Device Server’s Administrative utility provides two functionalities, the Server Manager and Device Mapping. The Server Manager enables the administrator to configure the USB server on the network and has the option to search for the USB servers on the Network and change the server configuration setting. The Device Mapping enables virtualization of all USB Devices connected to the USB server board on you PC over LAN.
