QUATECH EXPANDS LAPTOP CONNECTIVITY PRODUCT LINE WITH EXPRESSCARD FOUR PORT PERFORMANCE SERIAL CARDS
Quatech Now Shipping Four Port High Speed Serial ExpressCard Adapters
HUDSON, OHIO – August 12, 2008 – Quatech, Inc., a leader in wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) networking and device connectivity solutions, has expanded it’s ExpressCard connectivity product line to include four port performance RS-232/422/485 serial ExpressCards.
ExpressCard adapters are the next generation of I/O Expansion for notebooks and handheld PCs. With emerging technology and faster speeds, ExpressCards boast better efficiency than most PCMCIA or PC cards. Offering a simple upgrade to PC technologies, Quatech now offers a broad range of connectivity products thru the new ExpressCard slot including single RS-232/422/485 serial, multiport RS-232/422/485 serial, parallel, Ethernet, eSATA and memory expansion card readers.
Quatech’s new four port performance PCIe based Serial ExpressCards (QSXPX-100 and QSPXP-200/300) works with RS-232 (QSP-100) or RS-422/485 (QSP-200/300) based devices. Each fully supports serial UART registers and addresses exactly like the computer’s native serial port.
The ExpressCard adapter’s design utilizes a PCIe-based design and can still directly use I/O space addresses and interrupts. Unlike many USB based designed ExpressCards, Quatech’s PCIe based design can achieve high data rates (Up to 921 Kbaud) and integrate seamlessly with existing application software. Because there is no USB stack for the drivers to contend with, throughput can be higher and latency will be lower.
Quatech’s ExpressCards are one of the most complete and robust Serial ExpressCards in the marketplace and can expand a mobile system’s capabilities while taking up minimal system resources. Because they share electronic fundamentals with native bus structural designs, they function exactly like standard COM ports and can be addressed as such by application software.
With innovative technology, the ExpressCard delivers thinner, faster and lighter modular expansion to desktops and notebooks. Additionally, the small size and the option of leaving the card in the computer, make Quatech ExpressCards the practical choice for most mobile portable systems.
Due to improved data transfer rate, the ExpressCard is considerably more efficient for multi-tasking opportunities. The PXP series support data rates of up to 921.6 Kbps, which provides steady flow of data throughput.
