How to Identify Quatech's RoHS-Compliant Products
Quatech's RoHS Certificate of Compliance
Background
Quatech is collaborating with our suppliers to comply with the European
Union Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in
Electrical and Electronic Equipment ("RoHS") Directive
(2002/95/EC), taking effect July 1, 2006. The RoHS directive prohibits
the sale of electronic equipment containing certain hazardous substances
such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated
biphenyls ("PBB") and polybrominated diphenylethers ("PBDE")
in the European Union.
Quatech has a program in place (see below) to ensure that our products
satisfy the RoHS Directive with respect to the various categories
of electronic products.
What we're doing about RoHS
Quatech is committed to fully comply with the RoHS Directive on
or before July 1, 2006. All of our standard products will be designed
(or redesigned) to be RoHS-compliant by the end of 2005. At this
time, however, we cannot set specific release dates for the new
RoHS-compliant Quatech products because of the tentative schedule
for the availability of RoHS-compliant components.
The process we are following to ensure RoHS compliance by July
1, 2006:
- Q1-Q3 2005: Evaluated design and manufacturing processes by
product family (PCMCIA, USB, Device Server, PCI/UPCI, other) to
determine requirements to deliver RoHS compliant products.
- Q2 2005: Completed a review of our component and supplier base
to verify supply chain ability to produce and deliver RoHS compliant
products.
- Q2-Q4 2005: Designed (and redesigned) products by product
family to meet RoHS-compliant specifications.
- Q2 2005: All new Quatech designs going forward will be RoHS
compliant.
- Q3 2005 - Q2 2006: Conversion of existing product families to
RoHS compliance based on component availability and market requirements.
Quatech will begin shipping RoHS-compliant products as they are
available. Announcements of RoHS-compliant products will be posted
to our web site at www.quatech.com. Specific details of each product's
transition to RoHS compliance can be obtained through your Quatech
Account Manager.

WEEE Compliance Statement
|
Background
The European Union also adopted Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), with requirements that
went into effect August 13, 2005. WEEE is intended to reduce the
disposal of waste from electrical and electronic equipment by establishing
guidelines for prevention, reuse, recycling and recovery.
Quatech has already modified its practices and processes to conform
to the requirements in this important Directive.
